We've saved the best for last. You are invited to join us for New Years Dream -- blending a dose of music with a kiss of liquor to wake the coming year. Imagine a hidden space just beyond the broken streets of Dumbo Brooklyn, the expansive studio of Complacent Nation,
C-Spot Designs and the Brooklyn Media Lab. Imagine a couple thousand square feet of cinderblock fortress built into three areas of cozy nooks, open dance-floors, and massive light installations.
Escape the trap of the New Years party behemoth and overpriced exercises in desperation. This event is about gathering a few hundred of our closest friends and lovers with champagne, mistletoe, and the best music in Brooklyn. Featuring Reverend Vince and the Love Choir playing soul-shaking funk/gospel to dance away sin and sanctity as we cheer in the New Year. Plus an ass-shaking drum and piano duet by KiEthan with guest vocals from Digitelle. Breaks, house, dub and techno by DJs John S. of Spec4 with vocals by Rhiannon, Jason BK, and Mad Aro.
Marvel to wall-to-wall video projections by Luxz with illbient beat mechanics from Dok, Tomster and Masa of Amoeba Technology along with light installations by Will (Complacent) and installed art by Charlotte C.Spot and Ursula Wing. Find cures for what ale's ya by Miss Elixer, a big cash bar, free goodies for the good and naughty bits for the bad.
This event is for the gutter glamorous and the creatively inspired.
This event is for you dreamers who are broke, beautiful, and deserving of more. New Years Dream will be as thick, full and immersive as every party we host, all for a lot less and all on New Years night. This New Years Dream is yours for $2.99 if you got it, and nothing if you don't.
The catch? First, you and those you arrive with must bring one bottle of champagne to pop, sip, and share at the stroke of midnight. The bottle can be cheap or extravagant, it's for you and your posse.
Second we have only a couple hundred invites available and we are giving them out to the best and brightest. Just make a little effort and RSVP to the website.
RSVP for location, Brooklyn
F train to York
9p-5a; $2.99 if you got it

Mainstream Fashion Review
This is a brief review of mainstream designers we actually like... These moments and folds of fabric that love the body and the world, that use inspiration aesthetically and/or philosophically that make us want to go home and play dress up. The fashion we encounter created by our friends and cohorts in the underground back corners of NYC we know to tingle and tickle the senses and idea organs, but it is a great comfort to think that the truly great and beautiful things are still (occasionally) allowed to succeed in this world...
(above) Alexander Corset by A La Disposition... From an old collection but I like the old collections best. Between war and disappointment and the cold of winter and death, this season is pretty conservative on the runways -- I almost choked when I saw what Imitation of Christ is doing now... Thank god for Vivienne Westwood & Gaultier!
Check out the site @ http://www.aladisposition.com
(above) Gaelyn & Cianfarani are close to my aesthetic heart with their romantic and freakish mix of history and fetish. They are even socially and ecologically conscious and care about their community. Their signature material is even made from recycled bicycle innertubes... How sexy is that?!?!
Check them out & love them @ http://www.gaelyn.com
(above) While we are on the topic, we must mention Linda Loudermilk and her "luxury eco" company. In response to the sustainability question this clothing company uses fabrics made from exotic self-sustaining plants, such as sasawashi, bamboo, sea cell, and soya. At first look, the designs were boring us to tears, until we stumbled upon the Archives where all the gems and exciting experiments are hiding.

Dreaming of a New Lost City
Searching the nooks and crannies of this costumer's mind for images and inspiration for something wild and whimsical to bedeck some kind of fairy tale phantasms to wonder our subconscious and mind's eyes on the night of new.

Blue Painting
This is stage one of a small blue painting with two figures. So far the materials are charcoal and acrylic. The dimensions are 20" X 30" which is smaller than it has occurred to me to paint before, but it is much more reasonable a size of canvas than the 5' X 8' mural in the studio. (Pictures forthcoming.)

Winter Fashion
We are dreaming of fake fur in neon pink, and cuts like space ninja chicks would sport while planet-hopping in the name of good. We are dreaming of fleece and dresses constructed from layers and layers of vintage sweaters. We are dreaming of layers that complement in color and texture, walking into warmth we shed, one layer at a time... flexible like the seasons.
